Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS 

HASANUDDIN JOURNAL OF ANIMAL SCIENCE 

Hasanuddin Journal of Animal Science (HAJAS) is a scientific journal published by Faculty of Animal Science Hasanuddin University twice a year in May and November. HAJAS is a Peer Reviewed Open Access journal committed to disseminate all information contributing to the scientific publication of original research papers and reviews in animal science. 

GENERAL INFORMATION 

MANUSCRIPT FILE 

  1. Manuscript is written in English (American or British usage is accepted, but not a mixture of these). Manuscript has been 'spell checked' and 'grammar checked'.
  2. Article files should be provided in Microsoft Word format (Please follow the HAJAS manuscript template). 
  3. Manuscript should be between 4000 and 8000 words in length. This includes all text including references and appendices. Please allow 500 words for each figure or table.
  4. Manuscripts should be prepared single-spaced in Microsoft Word, with pages numbered consecutively, using Calibri font at 12 points. Titles, tables, titles of tables or figures are typed singles spaced. 
  5. Tables and figures should be embedded in the text. Placing them not in the separate electronic file texts.  Each table and figure should be cited in the texts, and should be numbered and have an explanatory heading. 

CONTENT OF MANUSCRIPTS 

  1. Article Title:  

A title of not more than fourteen words should be provided. The title must contain both a descriptive and concise title of the paper. Avoid abbreviations and formulae where possible. Each word of the title should be started with capitalized letter where appropriate.

 

  1. Name of Author details:

Should be arranged in the correct order for publication. The affiliation and correct email addresses should be supplied and listed where they were based at the time that research for the paper was conducted. 

 

  1. Abstract

Must be written in English, in single paragraph and no more than 250 words.  Abstracts contain clear statement of introduction, purpose, design/methodology/approach, results, research implications, practical/social implications (if applicable) with no references cited.  

  1. Key words should be written in no more than 5 (five) words or phrases. 
  2. Introduction describes a brief background of the research, novelty, state of the arts, and objective(s) of the work. It should be written efficiently and supported by references, avoiding extensive discussion of a detailed literatures survey, a summary, and the results.

 

  1. Materials and Methods  
  2. It should be written clearly and completely containing a clear description of biological, analytical, and statistical procedures; so they can be repeated by other researchers.  References of original methods/procedures must be stated and all modifications of procedures (if any) should be explained. Diets and animal conditions (breed, sex, age, body weight, and weighing conditions [i.e., with or without restriction of feed and (or) water]) should be described clearly and fully. 
  3. Authors should state clearly information of commercial product and equipment used in the research, such as commercial name, product/equipment specification, city, and country.
  4. Appropriate statistical methods should be used, although the biological mechanism should be emphasized. The statistical model, classes, blocks, and experimental unit must be designated. Consultation with a statistician is recommended to prevent any incorrect or inadequate statistical methods.

 

  1. Results  
  2. Data should be presented in tables or figures when feasible. There should be no duplication of data in tables and figures. Sufficient and comprehensive data followed with some index of variation (e.g., SD, SE, etc.). The significance level (e.g., P<0.01) should be presented to give a complete information and allow the reader to interpret the results of the experiment
  3. The text should explain or elaborate the tabular data, but numbers should not be repeated extensively within the text. 

 

  1. Discussion should be consistent and should interpret the results clearly and concisely.  The address of biological mechanism and their significance should be supported by suitable literatures.  The discussion should show the relevance between the results and the field of investigation and or hypotheses. Results that already described in the RESULTS section should not be repeated in the DISCUSSIONS section. 
  2. Conclusion should be written briefly in single paragraph, but reflects the experimental results obtained. Implication of the results should be added stating what the findings.
  3. Acknowledgment (if any) to person(s) or institution(s) who help the experiments should be stated. 
  4. References: We suggest authors to use reference management software like Mendeley (https://www.mendeley.com/features/ reference-manager/) refer to IEEE style to prepare citations and the list of references such as Exopolysacchride (EPS) produced by lactid acid bacteria [1]

  1. References should be the last 10 year publication with minimum 80% of journal.
  2. Authors were allowed use proceeding, thesis, and dissertation as references.
  3. The electronic publications are only allowed to use, if those are published by a competent source, such as journal and government or private institution. The accessed date should be put after the last sentence.
